Terms of use

Last updated 31 August 2026

whocalledyou.dev shows what members of the public have reported about phone numbers. By using it you agree to what is below. If you do not, please do not use the site.

whocalledyou.dev is operated by OncillaAI LLC, and "we" throughout these terms means that company.

What this is

A record of reports. When we say a number has been reported 40 times as telemarketing, we mean 40 people told us that. We have not verified any of it, and we are not saying anything about whoever holds the number.

What this is not

It is not a background check, a credit reference, a fraud database, or a consumer report. It is not evidence that anyone did anything wrong. A number with many reports may have been spoofed by someone else entirely — caller ID is trivially faked, and the person who actually holds a reported number is often another victim rather than the caller.

Absence of reports means only that: no reports. It is not a statement that a number is safe. Most numbers, including ordinary personal ones, have none.

Uses that are not allowed

You may not use anything from this site to make decisions about a person — including decisions about credit, employment, housing, insurance, tenancy, or any similar eligibility. This data is not assembled, verified, or maintained to any standard that would make it fit for those purposes, and using it that way may put you in breach of the Fair Credit Reporting Act or its equivalents.

You also may not:

  • submit reports you know to be untrue, or file reports to damage someone;
  • use the site to harass, threaten, or identify any individual;
  • try to work out who holds a number, or combine this data with other sources to do so;
  • evade rate limits, the human check, or the removal mechanism;
  • scrape the site in bulk, or copy the database wholesale.

Reporting

Report only calls you actually received. One report per number, per person — repeating a report does not make it count for more, and attempting to manufacture a reputation against a number is a misuse of the site.

Do not include names, addresses, or other details about people in the notes field. We may remove any report at our discretion, and we may withdraw every report from a source that appears to be manipulating the data.

If a number is yours

You can remove it yourself by confirming a code we text to it — a single, one-time message, not a subscription. Message and data rates may apply. Once removed, the number reads the same as one nobody has ever reported. If you cannot receive a text on the number, write to [email protected].

We may reverse a removal if it appears to have been used to conceal activity from the number rather than to protect its holder.

Automated access

The API is offered as a convenience and is rate limited. It may change or stop without notice. Do not use it to build a copy of the database, and do not use it for the purposes ruled out above — that applies equally at any volume, including a paid or higher-limit arrangement.

Everything returned is the same evidence-of-reports data described throughout these terms: unverified, describing reporting activity rather than a person, and not fit for a decision about anyone's eligibility for anything. Using it as a fraud or spam signal — one input into a system a human or your own business ultimately decides with — is a reasonable use. Using it as the basis for an automated decision about a specific person is not, for the same reason a background check on this site would not be: nothing here has been verified, by us or by anyone.

We may agree in writing to a higher-volume or commercial arrangement. Where we do, these terms still apply, and any additional terms will say so explicitly rather than silently supersede what is written here.

What you submit

You keep whatever rights you have in a report you send. You give us permission to store it and to publish it in aggregate form — as counts and categories, never as your words or your identity. Do not submit anything you do not have the right to send us.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Reports are unverified by definition.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site or from reliance on anything shown here.

Changes

We may change these terms; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the site means accepting the current version.
